Motorbikes and cyclists to share the bus lane

Successful 18 month trial of motorbikes and cyclists sharing bus lanes in London may become widespread

The trial allowed motorbikes and cyclists to use bus lanes as a way of easing congestion. Research by Transport for London has uncovered that it has also reduced accident rates between cyclists and motorbikes by as much as 40%. Similar reductions in accident rates have been seen in Plymouth, where they had a drop from 22 KSI (Killed or Seriously Injured) in 2006 to 14 in 2008.
